Products - Windows ICS

This provides Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) by using your current computer. This is ideal for the home network that primarily only requires the sharing of an Internet access point, and printer sharing

Cabling & Switch/Hub

Net Connection will supply and install all the necessary cabling, network cards, switch and other infrastructure required for implementation.

Server Configuration

The term server refers to the PC that is connected to the Internet and is sharing the Internet connection with other PC's on the network. Net Connection will configure the 'server' PC to enable Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) and print sharing (if required).

Client - hardware/configuration

The term client refers to the other PC's on the network. Net Connection will supply and install network cards into your existing computers, and configure them to enable them to work on the new network.

Specifications

Windows Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) can be provided on a PC running one of the following operating system:

• Windows 98 SE

• Windows ME

• Windows 2000

• Windows XP

This configuration is ideally suited for a medium to high end desktop running Windows XP. Primary because Windows XP provides a 'in built' firewall (previous versions of Windows do not provide this).

This configuration will enable Internet sharing for the following ISP connections:

• Cable modem

• ADSL modem

• Dial-up connections

This configuration will cater for the following printer setups:

• 1 X Parallel interface printer connected to the 'server' (can be two with additional hardware)

• 1 --> 2 X Serial interface printers (dependant upon existing interfaces)

• 1 --> 6 X USB interface printers (dependant upon existing interfaces)

• Printers connected to 'clients' can also be shared on the network

Features

The 'server' is configured with the following features:

• Internet gateway/Firewall (Firewall provided with Windows XP)
• DNS server

The following features can also be provided on this configuration:

• Print server
• FIle server

Suitable for a small office or home network with up to 8 Windows clients.
